Grim Ordeal Demo
In the summer of 2011 Grim Ordeal joined forces with Niels Achtereekte (Vitamin 14, ex-Next Waste Dimension) to record their first demo. They have known Niels for many years and when he offered to record their first demo in his Basserette-studio Grim Ordeal didn't hesitate a second!! They picked three songs, "Pandemic", "In blood we trust" and "My kingdom", and started recording. First Rob laid down the drum tracks. He used the drumkit and drum room from Jorik Tijssen (ex-Next Waste Dimension), sorry for ripping up your floor dude!! Then Bram and Raymond recorded all the guitar parts at Bram's home studio. After the guitars where done, Niels recorded Bryan's bass lines in only one afternoon, killer!! Last but not least Otto did his part and screamed his lungs out at the Basserette, sorry neighbors!!
Then it was up to Niels to start mixing the whole thing. He mixed the songs, mailed them to the band for listening and with the feedback from the band he adjusted the sound until everyone was satisfied with the result.
When Niels finished mixing he sent the songs to Patrick Oude Nijhuis (Vitamin 14) for mastering. It took Patrick roughly a week to master the demo, damn fast and what a result!!
The whole thing sounds dirty fat, deeply layered and heavily grooving! Thanks guys, horns up!!
